2004 Hopkinton, MA High School graduate, Keegan Bradley won the PGA Tour “BMW Championship” at Castle Pines Golf Club in Castle Rock, Colorado this past weekend. The four day tournament was Keegan’s 7th career major-event win and 37th career Top-5 finish, Keegan also has 11 runner-up finishes to his credit.
Keegan went professional in 2008 following graduation from St. John’s University and has since played in 352 major PGA events. Keegan currently ranks as one of the top 50 PGA golfers in the world!
In Round 1 of this past week’s BMW Championship, Bradley took the lead over the 50-man field hitting -6 (6 under par) with a 66 score on the 72-par course. The field got tighter in Round 2 and Adam Scott (Australia) took a 3-stroke lead over Bradley but Keegan remained in the top 3 hitting a solid -4 under on the day.
On Day 3, the top of the field rotated quite a bit throughout the afternoon but Bradley wrapped up the day back at the top, hitting a 70 (2 under par). On day 4, Bradley hit par (72) and it would be enough to finish the tournament -12 (12 under par) overall and a stroke ahead of Sam Burns (USA), Ludvig Arberg (Sweden) and Adam Scott (Australia) who all tied for 2nd one stroke behind Bradley with an -11 (11 under par).
“If there was a shot to remember, said Bradley’s caddie, Scott Vail, it was Bradley’s 5-iron into the par-5 17th hole. He had faced the same shot the day before but come up short. This time, the ball soared through the thin Colorado air so majestically, settling 16 feet from the pin for an easy two-putt birdie. “The best shot I’ve ever seen,” Vail called it. As a result of the Win, Keegan Bradley had a very nice $4,000,000 pay day and moves from 50th all the way up to 4th place overall in the Fed Ex cup standings. Keegan next competes on the Fed-Ex Cup tour championship in Atlanta, Georgia on August 29th through September 1st.
