Pete Hegseth was officially confirmed as Secretary of Defense on Friday, January 24th 2025 at approximately 9:15pm after Vice President, JD Vance broke the 50-50 tie. Republican Senators voting in the negative included Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Susan Collins (Maine) & Mitch McConnell (Kentucky). These swamp-rat senators may very-well and should face primary challengers in the next election cycle. Hegseth becomes the 3rd senate confirmed cabinet member.
