Bill Belichick, the former New England Patriots Head Coach who helped lead the Patriots franchise to 6 Super Bowl Championships during his tenure, lost his first ever NCAA game via a blowout as the University of North Carolina Tar Heels fell to TCU 48 to 14 on Monday night.
Bill Belichick was hired by the University of North Carolina Tar Heels last Winter & brought perhaps more excitement than ever for the U.N.C. Football program. When people thought of North Carolina Tar Heels athletics, they typically think of Michael Jordan and the Tar Heels top-notch Basketball program, but Belichick put UNC on the map in the Football world.
Many prominent celebrities & UNC alum were at Chapel Hill including Michael Jordan himself & Lawrence Taylor plus UNC alum & former NE Patriots WR Randy Moss to witness the beginning of the Bill Belichick ERA at the University of North Carolina but likely did not leave very happy as the Tar Heels fell to a battle-tested, tough & gritty Texas Christian University (TCU) squad 48 to 14. UNC had 70 new players join their roster this season as they hoped to get the benefit of learning from arguably one of the greatest coaches in NFL & Football history, Bill Belichick.
Despite a tough opening night for Bill Belichick, it was his 1st game coaching at the NCAA level and with 70 new names on the roster from last years team you have to expect an adjustment period to occur. If you’re a Tar Heels fan, you hope the adjustment period won’t last long and certainly won’t be as UGLY! The UNC defense gave up more points than any Bill Belichick coached defense during any game throughout his long Coaching history!
