Michigan wins national championship: Wolverines outlast UConn to earn first title since 1989
(CBS) April 7th- No. 1 seed Michigan defeated No. 2 seed UConn 69-63 to capture the 2026 national championship on Monday night. It’s the second national title in program history for the Wolverines and the first since 1989 after denying the Huskies their third national championship in four seasons. Michigan is the first national champion from the Big Ten since Michigan State in 2000.
UCLA women’s basketball title celebration draws huge crowd to Pauley Pavilion (CBS)
Lauren Betts and her UCLA teammates celebrated the Bruins’ first NCAA women’s basketball championship with their fans at Pauley Pavilion on Wednesday night.
“This team is going to go down in history,” Betts said. “We’ve earned it.”
Betts, Gabriela Jaquez and Charlisse Leger-Walker capped the party by hitting the court to perform their TikTok dance with the championship trophy in the background. Angela Dugalic made a snow angel in the blue-and-gold confetti littering the court.
