Iowa NCAA Women’s Basketball team broke countless records this season largely because of the tremendous talent and wonderfully positive appeal of Hawkeyes Guard, Caitlin Clark. In fact, in each of her last 3 games, Iowa broke the record for the most watched Women’s College Basketball game ever. Iowa’s elite 8 game vs LSU drew 12.3 million viewers, the Final 4 game VS UConn drew 14.2 million viewers and the championship game vs South Carolina drew 18.7 million viewers. It was also the 1st time that the Women’s Championship game topped the Men’s Championship game which had an audience of 14.82 million viewers.
“Not only is that the most-watched women’s college basketball game on record, the matchup is also the second most-watched non-Olympic women’s sporting event ever on U.S. television. It comes in behind only the 2015 Women’s World Cup Final, according to Nielsen data.” (Katie Campione – Deadline)

Caitlin Clark is another example of a hard-working, self-made phenom who captured the hearts of the country. It’s not hard to see that Clark put a TON of time into developing her game to become the GOAT of college basketball! Iowa is not typically known for their Women’s Basketball program but Clark put the Hawkeyes on the map and made the team one of America’s favorites. Clark will go down as one of the greatest (in my opinion, THE GREATEST) college basketball player of all-time after breaking nearly all relevant scoring (Men’s & Women’s) records in NCAA basketball. Clark became the all-time scoring leader after breaking Pete Maravich’s previous record of 3,667 points. In Caitlin Clark’s final game, she netted 30 points in a losing effort to South Carolina in the championship game to set the new record at 3,951 overall career points for Clark. South Carolina proved to be way more well-rounded than Iowa but as usual Clark put Iowa on her back and kept them in the game throughout.

Certain media members have criticized Caitlin Clark. Those whom have criticized Caitlin Clark for simply working her butt off to become the GOAT of College Basketball should not EVER be taken seriously. The haters are either jealous, insecure or is just a miserable person who hates their existence. Congratulations to Caitlin Clark on forever changing Women’s Basketball and attracting millions of sports fans from around the country and thank you for being an extremely classy & positive influence for all the little-ones out there. Caitlin Clark is a great phenom to respect and idolize and I look forward to watching Clark absolutely smash viewership (and shooting) records in the WNBA. I don’t think the excitement for the next WNBA season has ever been higher.
On a side-note, NCAA Women’s Volleyball also broke many historic records this past season. Could the female sports interest increase be on the verge of becoming a common trend in the sports world? Time will tell… but I am hoping this will be the common theme for Women’s sports going forward. The hardworking NCAA and pro-athlete Females give it everything they got and certainly deserve some viewership love!
